Hispania vincit: los cinco libros primeros de la corónica general de España. Medina del Campo: Guillermo de Millis, 1553.
Folio (301 x 209 mm). Title (and a few other leaves) printed in red and black, with large woodcut arms of Spain, woodcut initials, errata leaf. Early limp vellum, inked title on spine, traces of ties at edges. Browning and spotting throughout.

SECOND EDITION, the first complete edition with the additional fifth part added to the first edition of 1543. After being appointed the Chronicler of Spain by Emperor Charles V, Ocampo traveled throughout the Iberian Peninsula gathering information for this work on the origins of Spain and its people. His work would be continued and expanded upon by Ambrosio de Morales in a later edition of 1577. Palau, V, 336; Sabin, 56621.
