BOUND WITH: ASTESANUS OF ASTI. Summa de casibus conscientiae. Canones poenitentiales.
2 parts in one volume, folio (266 x 185 mm). Collation: [a-h10 i8 k10 l m8 n-z A-K10 L12] 335 leaves (of 336, lacking blank a1). Gothic text type, one 15-line illuminated foliate initial "Q" on a2 recto in blue, pink and green on a burnished gold ground, with white decoration on blue and pink ground, terminals of same design extending the entire length of the inner margin with gold disks ringed by scrolling penwork, incorporating 4-line initial below and penwork between columns, initials supplied in alternating red and blue throughout, paragraph marks in red and blue. Later rebinding in old limp vellum, titles on spine inked in outline. Covers somewhat stained, perforated near outside edges for cord ties (lacking), lacking initial blank (a1), some minor mostly marginal worming, light soiling and dampstaining.
Provenance: Ownership stamp and inscription in lower margin of A2 recto ("hic liber e loci massatii" and "LOCI.MASSATII").

First of two editions printed at this press in the same year. Nicolaus' work is a digest of canon law arranged alphabetically from "Abbas" to "Zelus." As the title indicates, it is his supplement to Bartholomaeus de Sancto Concordio's Summa. BSB Ink N 70, Bodleian N-024; CIBN N-34; Goff N-60; GW M-26252; Hain HC *2153; Proctor 4161.
