SIGNED "AT HOME" PHOTOGRAPH OF LOUIS PASTEUR.

PASTEUR, LOUIS. 1822-1895. Photograph Signed ("Souvenir de 27 Xbre [December]/ L. Pasteur"), a full length seated portrait inscribed by Pasteur on his 70th birthday, 140 x 189 mm, an albumen print cabinet card by Dornac & Cie, Paris, 1892, name of original recipient removed from inscription, light stain to right hand margin, minor chipping to paper on mount verso.

AN INTIMATE IMAGE OF PASTEUR IN HIS STUDY FROM DORNAC'S SERIES "NOS CONTEMPORAINS CHEZ EUX," INSCRIBED IN HONOR OF HIS 70TH BIRTHDAY. Beginning in 1887, Dornac (Paul Cardon) created a series of photographs of French celebrities in their homes or at work, including not only Pasteur, but Verlaine, Sarah Bernhardt, Rodin, and Renoir, among others.
