4to (247 x 195 mm). Woodcut vignette on title page, 38 engraved plates. Contemporary calf, spine gilt in six compartments, red Morocco lettering piece. Heavily rubbed, some chipping to edges and corners of covers, ownership inscription on front flyleaf, dampstaining along lower margins, large tear to plate XIV light spotting.

FIRST EDITION of this work by French anatomist Tarin, using illustrations after Bernard Albinus, from his Tabulae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani (1744). Tarin provides the text, in Latin and French, for the illustrations from Albinus. The number of plates in known examples of this work varies, with some as high as 47 plates, but the most commonly known count is 38 plates, as in this example.
