2 parts in 1 volume. 4to (223 x 174 mm). Engraved vignette on title page, 39 engraved illustrations, including 9 folding and 13 full-page. Contemporary vellum, inked titles on spine. Light rubbing and soiling to covers, front hinge cracking, lacking engraved frontispiece, inked ownership inscription on title, light foxing.
Provenance: Albert G. Nicholls (English/Canadian physician and professor, 1870-1946, bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of this compendium of anatomical observations that includes some of Kerckring's most important contributions to the field, including "Kerckring's folds" in the small intestine, and "Kerckring's ossicles" in the occipital bone of developing fetuses.
