INDIA: PHOTOGRAPHY, 1908-1910.
Two albums of photographs of travels, mostly in India, but also the Isle of Wight, Switzerland, Ireland, Clifden Castle and Gibraltar:
1. approximately 100 2 x 3" contemporary gelatin silver prints matted with captions beneath, dated 1908 - 1910, bound in grey cloth album, stamped in maroon with the title "Sunny Memories" to upper cover, 24 pp.
2. approximately 100 2 x 3-inch contemporary gelatin silver prints matted and captioned, dated 1910 – 1911, bound in red cloth, approximately 8 x 6 inches, stamped "PHOTOGRAPHS" in black to upper cover, 24 pp.
An interesting collection of photographs tracing travels beginning on board the S.S. Mongolia from Port Said, and the S.S. Salsette at Aden in 1909. Landing in India, beginning in Amritsar and Katha Nangal, before returning to England, Ireland and the Isle of Wight, Brading, and onto Antwerp, Switzerland and the Alps, before heading to Bombay. There are many images of trains and ships, as well as an interesting yacht race in Bombay. The second album opens in Ireland 1910, Dublin, Galway and Kildare, and onto Clifden Castle, before heading to Suez, Aden, and onto Agra, Delhi, the Taj Mahal, and then to Calcutta. An interesting collection of travels, personal and original.
