MERIMEE, PROSPER. Le Carmen des Carmen. Paris: Éditeurs Français Reunis, 1964.
Folio (362 x 270 mm). Color lithograph, drypoint etching, and 3 aquatints by Picasso, each dated in the plate and numbered in pencil "215/245" beneath, laid-in behind colophon at rear; 36 full-page photolithographs, 2 color lithographs after Picasso (one double-page), and marginal vignettes. Publisher's wrappers, with Picasso's handwritten title reproduced on cover, original jute-covered, felt-lined folding case.

LIMITED EDITION WITH FIVE ORIGINAL PRINTS, SIGNED BY PICASSO AND ARAGON on the justification leaf, nunber 215 of 245 copies on Arches wove paper from a total edition of 275. The text is a facsimile of the copy of Carmen which Picasso adorned with a generous number of drawings and donated for sale to benefit the National Committee of Writers. The actor and screenwriter Marcel Duhamel bought that unique copy and invited his friend Louis Aragon to publish the present edition. Bloch 1000-1005. Cramer 126; Monod 8045.
