Folio. Original aquatint frontispiece ("Femme nue"), 51 photogravure plates after Renoir with captioned tissue guards, 1 color lithographic plate after Renoir, illustrations in text. Publisher's wrappers lettered in black and red, with lithographic reproductions of sketches by Renoir on wrappers and spine, edges untrimmed. Spine split and chipped at corners, wrappers browning, foxing.

LIMITED EDITION, number 341 of 375 on vélin d'Arches, from a total of 1000 copies. Vollard met Renoir in 1894 and became both his dealer and friend. This biography is derived from Vollard's notes on his many conversations with Renoir, resulting in a text that is often written in the form of a dialogue. Mahé III, 697; Monod 9641.
