Folio. 16 aquatint plates by Henri Matisse, Jean Cocteau, Jean Émile Laboureur, and others. Loose as issued in publisher's wrappers printed in blue and red, brown cloth and paper-covered board chemise and slipcase. Slipcase and chemise stained and worn, foxing to wrappers, light foxing and spotting to interior.

LIMTED EDITION, number 71 of 262 on Rives paper, from a total edition of 340. The text, by a variety of French poets and writers, alternates with the artwork, giving the work its title.
