Small 4to (175 x 123 mm). Blackletter text, woodcut printer's device on title page, woodcut initials, and half-page armorial woodcut on colophon. 20th century calf, spine gilt in 6 compartments, black Morocco lettering pieces, quarter Morocco and cloth slipcase signed "Monteney." Light rubbing and staining to binding, top margin of title page repaired with partial loss of "The" in title, margins trimmed to edges of printed marginalia, scattered browning and staining.
Provenance: Thomas Baker (1656-1740; ink inscription on title); Harold Greenhill (1893-1968; bookplate).

Second edition of the English translation from Latin by Arthur Golding (1536-1606). ESTC S107124; STC 4336.
