An unusually clean copy of Bankes' handsomely illustrated compendium of mostly eighteenth-century voyages, updated to include an expedition to Botany Bay "with a particular description of Port Jackson, where the convicts are now settled" undertaken in 1787-1788, alongside those of Captain Cook's three voyages to the Pacific, and explorations in China, Japan, the Middle East, East Indies, Africa, etc.
