VIVALDUS (JOANNES LUDOVICUS)

Aureum opus de veritate contritionis, title printed in red and black with large woodcut device, printer's device on final leaf, woodcut initials and manicules, publication date added in ink on title at later date, bibliographical notes in ?nineteenth century hand on the front free endpaper, contemporary blind-stamped pictorial calf over wooden boards, central figure of the Eternal Father holding an orb and sword standing against a background of stars beneath a cinque-foiled canopy supported by two brackets, the border with the Virgin and Child on an upturned crescent in upper border, the three Magi in one border, the Sibyl and Octavian kneeling in the other, and a scene of Herod and the massacre of the innocents in the lower margin, a few small losses to sides, preserved in cloth solander box [BP16 101652; Weale 499], 8vo, [Paris], J. Barbier, for Francis Regnault, [4 October 1510]
