One of the first scholarly works devoted to Chess, and other Oriental games including backgammon, draughts and dice. Includes texts in Arabic, Chinese and Hebrew. The author, Thomas Hyde (1636-1703), was Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford and Librarian at the Bodleian Library.
