of typical form on a long splayed foot, six suspension loops to body, decorated in polychrome enamel and gold with inscriptions on a ground of foliate interlace, the neck with inscriptions interspersed by inscription-filled roundels, the lower body and foot with arabesques and roundels

Inscriptions: Qur'an, chapter XXIV (al-nur), parts of verse 35; around the body, 'izz li-mawlana/ al-sultan/al-malik/ al-nasir nasir/al-dunya wa/al-din Muhammad ...'izzahu, 'Glory to our lord, the sultan, al-Malik al-Nasir, helper of the world and religion Muhammad- may his glory be ...'.

Dr. Mohammed Said Farsi was the Mayor and then Lord Mayor of Jeddah in the 1970s and 1980s, where he played a crucial role in transforming the city into one of the largest open-air galleries in the world by commissioning monumental sculptures by famous international and Middle Eastern artists, including Joan Miró, Henry Moore, Hans Arp, and Alexander Calder.
