Jerusalem, late 18th/ 19th Century

of rectangular form with domed hinged lid and two drawers to the front, profusely inlaid and decorated with mother-of-pearl, with panels of geometric designs to the back, sides and drawer fronts, the sides with roundels containing starbursts, the sides, front and lid engraved and part infilled with black and orange pigment with scrolling floral sprays, scenes of European soldiers with rifles and Ottoman Turks at leisure, the lid with two roundels containing starburst designs with central birds, the interior lined with orange cloth with floral designs, with working key
50.6 x 28.6 x 32 cm.
