A gilt-copper mounted brass shield
Kutch, late 19th Century

of convex form with four bosses and surmounted by crescent motif, the brass body mounted in gilt-copper decorated in openwork with a central elephant surrounded by quadrupeds, birds and hunting scenes all on a ground of vegetal interlace, the bosses and crescent set with coloured glass
46.5 cm. diam.
