Inscriptions: 'Smoking pipe of General Fleury, the last representative of the Second French Empire in Russia'.

Introduced into the circle of Napoleon III as a young officer, Emile Fleury became a general and the premier aide-de-camp of the Emperor. After the fall of the Second Empire, he was the French ambassador to Russia.
