The shape and enameled designs of this rare piece are copied from ceramics made in North Italy at Venice, in the Vezzi factory. The coloring and bold designs are very distinctively European with no inspiration at all from traditional Chinese designs, the elaborate strapwork is known only on a very few Chinese Export services and individual made for European clients (such as the splendid armorial ones made for the Portuguese family Ataide).
