A FINE COPY OF THE HAND-COLOURED ISSUE OF BAINES MOST IMPORTANT PUBLISHED WORK ON THE VICTORIA FALLS.
In 1858, at the recommendation of the Royal Geographical Society, Baines (1820-1875) was appointed artist and storekeeper to David Livingstone's Zambesi expedition. In 1861 he HAD joined James Chapman on an expedition from the south-west coast of Africa to the Victoria Falls, during which he made many sketches and paintings.
