A very fine and rare 19th century floor standing mahogany regulator

Viner, Regent Street, London
The arched case with full-length glazed door raised on an inverted panelled base with moulded apron on narrow button feet, two small holes to the left hand side of the case level with the movement indicate that it may at one time have been fitted with electrical connections(?).
The 14 inch arched silvered dial framed by an angled sight ring and signed in the upper part Viner, REGENT STREET, London, over an engraved minute track and bold Roman numerals, a subsidiary Arabic seconds dial set below XII, within the open centre revealing the front plate of the movement and the centre wheel cut with six fine crossings out, with very fine blued steel hands.
The weight driven movement with substantial 4mm thick plates united by six heavy knopped pillars, the great wheel pivoted to the front and back on pairs of friction rollers, with maintaining power, each wheel of six crossings out and with high count pinions to a deadbeat escapement with fine thread screw adjustment to the pallet arms and adjustable jewelled tips, the pallet arbor set in double-screwed chatons. Driven by a small brass weight on a finely crafted six-spoke pulley set in a four-part Y-shaped frame, the pendulum with steel rod to a large heavy (6.5kg) brass-clad lenticular bob secured and rated via an engraved silvered nut, with door key and ivory handled winding key. 1.87m (6ft 2ins) high
