A mid 18th century mahogany table clock with calendar
Eardley Norton, London
Surmounted by a brass handle above a bell top set on a raised plinth with front sound fret framed by pinecone finials, above arched glazed side panels, to a moulded base on scrolled feet, the front door with pierced and engraved brass quadrants flanked by long foliate mounts on the chamfered corners. The 8 inch arched brass dial with C-scroll spandrels surrounding the silvered Arabic and Roman chapter ring with internal calendar, the plain brass centre signed Eardley Norton London below painted steel diamond hands and a brass calendar pointer, a silvered Strike/Silent dial under the arch. The twin fusee movement with five knopped pillars and verge escapement with rack striking on a bell, the backplate with large engraved fruit basket within foliate scrolls. Ticking and striking, repeat operational, together with a case key. 65cms (25.5ins) high
