A mid-late 17th century English lantern clock, previously with verge escapement
Unsigned
Surmounted by a strapped bell and five urn finials between pierced dolphin frets (the centre with engraved details and shading), the tapering Doric pillars terminating in small ball feet (uppermost finial replaced, side doors and rear panel now lacking). The wide Roman chapter ring with matchstick flower half-hour markers and an inner quarter-hour track framing the single steel hand, the Arabic alarm disk with foliate centre, now fixed, framed by an engraved ring of flowerheads emanating from a bud at VI. The weight driven movement with old conversion to anchor escapement, and countwheel striking on the bell above, together with chain, a wall bracket, wooden pulley, weight, and pendulum with wide bob. 40cms (15.5 ins) high
