A good second quarter of the 19th century brass inlaid mahogany table clock
R. Dawes, Southampton
Surmounted by a brass acorn finial over applied gadrooning, floral brass inlay and recessed panel on a stepped base and ball feet. The refreshed painted Roman dial, signed R. Dawes Southampton, under blued steel spade hands. The twin gut (now wire) fusee movement with four narrow knopped pillars and anchor escapement, the backplate with an engraved floral border. Ticking, with a case key and a winding key. 41cms (16ins) high
