An Egyptian turquoise glazed faience shabti for Queen Henut-Tawy, Divine Adoratrice
Third Intermediate Period, late 21st-early 22nd Dynasty, circa 980-930 B.C.
16cm high

Footnotes

Provenance:
Private collection, Gloucestershire, acquired prior to 1980, probably as a gift; and thence by descent to the present owner.

It is likely that Henut-Tawy was daughter of Pinudjem II (see lot 290 for a shabti for this Chief Priest of Amun), and his wife Ast-em-Khebit (see lot 289 for a shabti named for her). This shabti probably came from the Ramesseum where there was a Third Intermediate Period cemetery. For another example of a shabti for Henut-Tawy, cf. G. Janes, Shabtis, A Private View, Paris, 2002, p. 115, no. 58.
