The official is shown swathed in a cloak with only his hands protruding, a common mode of dress during the 12th-13th Dynasties. In style, pose and costume the above lot is typical of some statuettes of the later Middle Kingdom, cf. W. Hayes, The Scepter of Egypt, Part 1, Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1953, p. 209, fig. 126.
