Blown into a two-part mould to resemble a three-lobed bunch of small grapes, this flask belongs to one of the earliest groups produced, possibly along the Syro-Palestinian coast, with examples found in Greece and Italy by the third quarter of the 1st Century A.D. (M. Stern, Roman Mold-Blown Glass. The First Through Sixth Centuries, Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, 1995, p. 180, nos 109-10).
