Hascall, H.A., Autograph Letter Signed, 14 January 1862.

Single-page letter on lined paper, Hascall writes "to request an inspection be made of tents which have been used by Negros and are not considered suitable for the use of soldiers," William T. Sherman replies and signs on the reverse writing "tents are unsuitable for soldiers - they still should be preserved for the use of Negros when called for," blind-stamped in u.l. corner, (folds, some staining in u.l., old adhesive marks on reverse), 9 3/4 x 7 3/4 in.
