Bates, Joseph D., Jr. The art of the Atlantic Salmon fly, EDITION: Deluxe edition was 85 copies of which this is copy no. LXX. SIZE: 283 x 220 mm. Thickness of box, which includes book, mounted fly and extra suite of plates: 50 mm. PAGINATION: 232 pp. ILLUSTRATIONS: Twenty-three color plates of flies, two reproductions of works of art, 5 full-page gravures and 3 fine- screen halftones. Plus headpieces, tailpieces and scattered text illustrations. This deluxe edition contains a mounted classic salmon fly, a "Colonel Bates," tied by Ted Kantner. It is presented in an oval window mount on a separate piece of thick bevel-cut mat-board and fitted into the folding-back box. Also included is an extra suite of color plates. BINDING: Coarse-weave linen sides, dark red morocco spine; binding and box made by Claudia Cohen. PRINTER: Meriden Gravure Company; designed and typeset at the Stinehour Press.
