Narinsky, S. [Shlomo] (1885-1960)

The Holy Land 1910-1921, 70 Photogravures by S. Narinsky, Portfolio of 70 postcard-size images, each one 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 in., sepia-toned, mounted on an 8 1/2 x 11 in. card with glassine, with hand-lettered caption and photographer's name, numbered in order and with text reading, "This collection of 70 original Photogravures by S. Narinsky, has been published in a one time Numbered Edition of 220 copies of which this is No. 214." Each one stamped "Sheet-fed gravure 1921, Handlettered 1980" on verso, each glassine embossed with "Publ. and copyright Jamal Bros. 1921 Jerusalem (Palestine)." Two introductory cards, one with numbered captions for all images and one with biographical text on Narinsky by Dr. Tim N. Gidal. In black clamshell case with title and photographer's name silver-stamped to front and spine, overall 12 1/4 x 9 1/2 in.
Narinsky was a Russian-born Israeli photographer and photography teacher whose work was influenced by Paul Cezanne, Alfred Stieglitz, and Robert Demachy.,
