Six Paint-decorated Wood Items and Candlestick,
New England, 19th century.
Includes a cutlery box with canted corners; carved black cat figure with hinged tail; drying rack; diminutive hearth brush gilt and painted on a green ground, with natural bristles; bellows with tacked leather and brass fittings, stencil-decorated in red, green, and bronze on a yellow ground; and a miniature bureau labeled "Litchfield & Holbrook, / Hand Made / MINIATURE FURNITURE / AND TOYS. / FREE STREET, / SO. HINGHAM, MASS." on the back; and a tinned sheet iron candlestick with ring handle soldered to square drip pan, (paint loss, chips), largest, 43cm wide, 17cm deep, 71cm high (17 3/4in wide, 7 1/2in deep, 28in high).
