Miniature Painted Blanket Chest,
probably Pennsylvania, c. 1820.
Lid with overhanging mitered edges opens on square iron hinges to shallow well, case joined with cut nails, with applied reeded "matchstick" moldings around two small drawers, both butt-jointed and nailed, with rabbeted fronts and brass knobs, all raised on carved bracket feet, exterior painted red, 25cm wide, 15cm deep, 17cm high (10 1/2in wide, 6 1/4in deep, 7 3/8in high).
