Painted Tin Dome-top Box,
probably Upson Tin Shop, Marion, Connecticut, c. 1830.
Japanned sheet iron box with soldered folded and rolled edges, black ground covering exterior, with front panel decorated in distinctive red and yellow floral arrangement in a white urn, feather and anthemion motifs in yellow around the top and sides of lid, 25cm wide, 15cm deep, 17cm high (10in wide, 6 1/2in deep, 7 1/4in high).
