Paper-decorated Mirror and Traveling Dressing Box,
America, 19th century.
Two-part wall mirror has molded wooden frame covered in textured painted paper bordered with embossed bronze trim, small wooden pateras applied to square corner blocks, back panel nailed to frame; the pine dressing box with tongue-and-groove joints has a shallow drawer below the top compartment containing a thin fold-out mirror attached to the lid, boards covered in printed papers and an embossed bronze trim surrounding the looking glass, (significant loss of paper on exterior, tape repairs to hinged lid), 12cm wide, 15cm deep, 12cm high (5in wide, 6 3/4in deep, 5 1/2in high).
