Stencil-painted Rocking Settee,
possibly Asa Howe (1798-1863), Brookfield, Vermont, c. 1850.
Constructed of round-tenoned turned stiles, splay legs, and stretchers, joined with carved rockers, armrests, and crest rail, painted with green, black, and bronze stenciled and striped decoration, seat bottom impressed "A HOWE" in center, (minor chips), 81cm wide, 66cm deep, 76cm high (32 1/2in wide, 26 1/2in deep, 30in high).
