Grain-painted Dome-top Trunk,

probably Shaftsbury, Vermont, c. 1830.
Dovetailed and tacked lid opens on square iron hinges, with square escutcheon plate, high-contrast grain painting in green and brown on a yellow ground, (minor chips, dents), 73cm wide, 35cm deep, 30cm high (29 3/4in wide, 14 1/8in deep, 12 1/2in high).
