the rectangular case with a shallow convex top with concaved edges above a robust shaped brass carrying handle, and glass panelled sides and arched front door, on block feet, the break arch Roman and Arabic brass dial with mask and foliage spandrels, the matted centre with chamfered date and mock pendulum apertures, below pierced steel hands, the cartouche to the arch signed Hen. Hitchman London, the single fusee movement with anchor escapement and quarter repeat, 50cms high
