A rare Arts and Crafts pierced silver and enamel tray

not assayed, John Ferguson Gow, circa 1913
Hand crafted shallow oblong form, the slightly raised border pierced with four-petalled flower heads motifs and dots, also applied with six stylised flowerheads, enamelled in shades of blue, each corner with applied spandrel with cloisonné enamelled small flower head and trailing foliage, the central enamelled panel with trailing foliage with varying small flower heads issuing from a large flower head, enamelled in blues and greens over a cream coloured enamelled ground, within a narrow border with trailing leaves enamelled in translucent green, the underside reveals a short panelled foot with riveted construction, underside hand engraved with the script initials, dated and signed
'M. E. M. Christmas 1913 JFG', length 24.8cm, weight total 9.6oz.

Footnotes

The inscription and initials are for Mabel Emily Moss.
This was a personal gift hand crafted by John Ferguson Gow to his future wife Mabel Moss. They married on 6th August 1916.
