Footnotes

John Ferguson Gow created a narwhal tusk mace for the British Dental Association.
This was presented to The British Dental Association by his son Flight-Lieutenant John Alexander Gow Royal Air Force. The presentation of 'The New Mace' is recorded in the British Dental Journal Supplement dated October 2, 1951.
By family repute the narwhal off cuts from the mace were used to create this lamp.
