This is the full armorial of Sir Weetman Dickson PEARSON (1856-1927) GCVO PC, 1st Viscount Cowdray of Cowdray created 1917 and his wife Annie CASS (1860-1932), daughter of John CASS of Bradford. They were married in 1881 at Bradford.
This tells us that phase of the engraving was made in the period after 1917.
Weetman Dickson PEARSON was born at Shelley, Kirkburton, Yorkshire the son of George PEARSON (1832-1898) a manufacturer by Sarah DICKINSON daughter of Weetman DICKINSON of High Hoyland Yorkshire. He was a British engineer, oil industrialist, benefactor and Liberal politician. MP for Colchester from 1895 and in 1894 and was created Baronet of Paddockhurst, Sussex and Airlie Gardens Kensington. In 1910 he was created Baron Cowdray of Midhurst Sussex. He was further advanced to Viscount Cowdray in 1917.
Lord Cowdray died in his sleep at Dunecht House, Aberdeenshire on 1 May 1927, aged 70, leaving a fortune of £400m.
