A good matched pair of George III cast silver-gilt open salts

John Mewburn, London 1810 / 1811 also with later French import mark
Each formed as a sea shell with undulating gadroon rims with upswept rocaille handles, the foot modelled as a turtle shell, underside with engraved crest an eagle (sometimes a falcon) proper preying on a partridge, length 10.5cm, weight 17.8oz, together with a pair of William IV silver-gilt open salts, William Kerr Reid, London 1831, each formed as a sea shell with upswept handles, on three cast conch shell supports, length 10cm, weight 11.1oz. (4)
