John Bridge, London 1826, open hand mark to base possibly for Smith & Co
Of deep spherical form, plain polished, the lift-off domed cover with wide gadrooned rim surmounted by a conjoined leaf-capped double c-scroll handle atop a circular gadrooned mount, an engraved crest within a garter to the front, on opening to reveal a silver bowl beneath, also with gadrooned rim, which also lifts-off to reveal the warming base in Old Sheffield plate below, a pair of wood-turned handles either side, atop four compressed ball feet, height 27cm, diameter bowl 24cm, weight silver 95oz.
