A Victorian silver three-piece coffee service

William Bateman & Daniel Ball, London 1840
Compressed baluster form with fluting, the coffee pot with an elaborate cast bindweed leaf finial, scroll handles with acanthus leaves, the pot with ivory insulators, each body embossed with intricate frosted floral and foliate decoration against a polished ground, engraved with script initials 'RW' within an elaborate cartouche, the sugar bowl gilt lined, all raised on four squat bracket feet capped with leaf motifs terminating in up-turned scrolls, height 22cm, weight total 56oz.
