UPPINGHAM SCHOOL INTEREST: a presentation silver salver

Thomas Bradbury & Sons Ltd, Sheffield 1930
Of shaped circular form, with moulded pie-crust border, plain polished and centrally engraved with the 'Uppingham School' crest, with an inscription to 'MAJOR C. BLAND, 1910 - 1931', raised on four ball and claw feet, together with a carved oak stand, inscribed 'C.B. 1931', diameter 41cm, weight 86.5oz.

Provenance
By family descent

Major Constantine Bland TD MA Emmanuel College, Cambridge, was Bursar and Clerk to the Trustees at the prestigious Uppingham School, from 1910-1931 and again from 1940-41. Bland served in the First World War, and was the first official Bursar of the school. He was consequently awarded this silver presentation salver in recognition of his service to this well known public school. He died in 1949.
