A Burmese silver teapot and twin-handled sugar bowl

Lower Burma (Myanmar) circa 1900
Of spherical form, the domed hinged cover surmounted by a cast finial of a Burmese figure dancing in courtly dress, a cast mythical ogre arching its back to form the handle, with ivory insulators, a mythological hintha dragon spout, the whole intricately modelled and embossed in high and low relief featuring narrative scenes from the epic Indian Ramayana poem, all raised on three taloned feet, together with a matching twin-handled sugar bowl, height teapot 24cm, weight 44oz.
