A French silver milk jug and a French Louis XV silver coin wine bowl

unknown maker's mark 'LJG', Paris 1788, later handle re-assayed, various control marks
Plain cylindrical form, with integral spout and engraved armorial beneath, reeded rim and later attached swing-handle, to the side a wooden turned handle, the body with applied classical swags and ribbons, together with a French silver coin wine bowl, rubbed maker's mark, Paris circa 1838, 1st standard Minerva head and control marks, circular form, twin-handled, inset with silver Louis XV coin 'LUD. XV. REX CHRISTIANISS', the exterior with applied decoration of grapes and vine leaves, bacchus and a dog, inscribed to upper rim 'J. de. BERNIS', on a shaped circular pedestal base, weight total 15.5oz. (2)

The inset Louis XV coin was created in 1754 by Jean Duvivier and Francois Joseph Marteau, in celebration of the birth of Louis XV's son, the Duke of Berry (later Louis XVI).
