A French Empire style silver coffee pot,

no maker's mark, Paris 1819-1838, stamped 1st standard, plus grosse and moyen garantie marks and poinçon de recense 1835-1838
Empire style, the hinged cover with a bud finial and gadrooned rim, classical motifs to the whole, the dark wooden handle with a circular floral junction, the neck embossed with a collar of leaf-tips, anthemions leading to a bird's head spout, the ovoid body with engraved inscription within a laurel leaf cartouche 'To the Revd. L Dixon. From his English friends at Coutances as a slight testimony of their isteem and attachment', the whole supported on three raised legs with lion paw feet, the legs emerging from applied embossed acanthus leaves, height 32cm, weight 20oz.
