HISTORICAL INTEREST: a set of three silver-mounted 'Dover Castle' oak paper knives

marks rubbed, case stamped Leuchars & Son, London circa 1850
Blade like form, all three in oak with decoratively carved and turned handles, polished flat wooden blades, the hilts mounted with silver collars, cased in a blue-velvet lined box marked LEUCHARS & SON with an inscribed silver plaque on the inner cover stating 'These Paper Knives are made from a piece of the Old Oak Floor of the Banqueting Hall of Dover Castle which dates from 1153 and has since been used as a Royal Residence by King Charles I', length longest 30cm. (3)
