A late Victorian brass mounted walnut hall stand

probably by Shoolbred
Circa 1900, of typical form, with channelled rails and surmounted by two urn finials, the umbrella and stick stand base inset with a divided copper liner, on brass splayed reverse ogee front feet, the reverse with the shadow of a Shoolbred type plaque or label, 65cm wide x 26cm deep x 190cm high, (25 1/2in wide x 10in deep x 74 1/2in high)

James Shoolbred & Co were well known manufacturers and retailers of furniture from about 1870 onwards, with premises on Tottenham Court Road. They were noted for quality work in all styles employing French and German upholsterers and leading English designers.
