Provenance
From the artist's studio, thence by descent.
Joachim, the son of the sculptor Joseph-Louis Supéry (1867-1944), began his training at a very young age in his father's studio in Paris, before finishing his artistic education at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. Gaining attention for his stone creations he subsequently attracted the attention of the famous Art Deco sculptor François Pompon who took him under his wing and gave him numerous commissions. However this did not prevent the young sculptor exhibiting his own works at the Paris Salon from 1927 up until the start of the Second World War. Coincidentally the descendants of the sculptor still own his studio in Malakoff and the offered lot was by repute directly purchased from the family at the studio after his death.
