Kurt Jackson's paintings are more than just landscapes. His work straddles the boundary between art and politics by bringing attention to the fragility of the natural world. Cemented by the artist's studies in Zoology at the University of Oxford, Jackson's love of landscape is underpinned by an urgent call to protect and conserve our environment. This interest is clearly illustrated by Jackson's artist-residencies with Greenpeace and the Eden Project. His large-scale paintings, often created en-plein-air, are imbued with a sense of movement that reminds us of the joy and beauty of nature, and why it should be protected. The present lot depicts a more domestic landscape than Jackson typically paints, giving us an insight into the artist's personal relationship with nature.
